Take a look over at my page devoted to John Keats to see the garden design inspired by the poem ‘On the Sea’ which has won Gold at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. It is an interesting theme for the Show to adopt and the poems represented vary – from the romantic gardens based on poems by Wordsworth and Byron to an abstract plot inspired by Lewis Carroll’s ‘Jabberwocky’.
He may be my favourite poet of those chosen, but I am not sure which of the gardens I would have as my favourite. What do you think?

Good for Keats. Don’t feel qualified to comment on the gardens and am certainly not qualified to comment on the poem, but I will anyway: oh dear am I the only one who can’t get beyond “eyeballs”?
Indeed, that word is something of a distraction! I’m sure that if he had written on the subject two years later the image would have been rather more powerful….
Yes indeedy. Let us be thankful he didn’t drop it into any of the odes. Or is it just me that has a horror of the word …
